Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years

Tasks

Determine areas for fishing and plot courses
Estimate costs of operations in terms of labour, equipment and maintenance
Steer vessels and operate navigational instruments and electronic fishing aids
Operate fishing vessels and fishing gears
Supervise crew members
Transport fish to processing plants or fish buyers
Maintain engine, fishing gear and other on-board equipment
Record fishing progress, crew activities, weather and sea conditions on ship's log
Maintain dock area and marina facilities

Certificates, licences, memberships, and courses

Marine Emergency Duties Certificate
Commercial Fishing Licence
