After the grower/landowner cultivates the pine trees and the forestry division marks the areas for harvest, workers will manually gather pine straw by raking, baling, stacking, grading, sorting, and tying pine straw. Workers will clean field areas by collecting sticks, limbs, and other debris before raking. Workers will perform general field sanitation, cleaning, and weed control duties as assigned. Workers must be able to frequently bend, stoop, lift, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Una vez que el productor o propietario del terreno haya cultivado los pinos y la división forestal haya marcado las áreas de recolección, los trabajadores recogerán manualmente la paja de pino mediante tareas de rastrillado, empacado, apilado, clasificación, selección y atado. Antes de rastrillar, los trabajadores limpiarán las áreas del terreno recogiendo ramas, ramitas y otros desechos. Asimismo, realizarán labores generales de saneamiento del terreno, limpieza y control de malezas según se les asigne. Los trabajadores deben ser capaces de agacharse, inclinarse, levantar y transportar frecuentemente materiales con un peso de hasta 50 libras.
