Job Description

Heartland Family First Medical Clinic is seeking a Clinical Nurse to care for pediatric patients. They are looking for someone to join their clinical team that is caring, friendly, family and team oriented and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Job Functions Clinical Duties: Brings patients back to the exam room and obtains a chief complaint and history. Accurately documents patient information in the Electronic Medical Record. Prepares patients for procedures and assist during procedures. Administers treatments and medications at the direction of the physician. Orders diagnostic tests at the hospital and obtains insurance prior-authorizations as needed. Conducts lab testing and prepares specimens sent to outside lab. Tracks tests results and follow-up with the patients at the direction of the physician and nursing staff. Triage patients calls to determine patient needs and reporting patient condition to physician and advising patient based on doctor’s instructions. Completes request for medication refills at the direction of the physician or following physician approved protocols. Stocks patient exam rooms. Cleans and sterilizes equipment per protocol. Checks out patients and schedules patients for follow up appointment if applicable. Triage Nursing Duties: Responds promptly to each incoming call to triage phone. Triage patients calls to determine patient needs, stated symptoms will be assess to determine the appropriate level of care required to safely meet the patient's medical needs (Emergent, urgent, non-urgent). Ability to provide caring patient care services when speaking with patients and/or their family members. When appropriate, provide home care instructions using the approved, written guidelines as well as approved reference materials. Ability to critically listen to questions from patients and information from providers to convey information effectively. Ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve patient care concerns. Ability to problem solve, effectively manage time and prioritize tasks. Effectively assess, prioritize, advise, schedule, or refer patient calls when necessary to the appropriate medical facility, personnel or community resource. Thoroughly complete documentation utilizing the appropriate computer software in compliance with the approved policy and procedures. Able to follow written and verbal instructions/directions required. HIPPA understanding required. Completes request for medication refills at the direction of the physician or following physician approved protocol. Fax patient documents when applicable. Orders diagnostic tests at the hospital and obtains insurance prior-authorizations as needed. Tracks tests results and follow-up with the patients at the direction of the physician and nursing staff. Adheres to Adheres to Heartland Family First Medical Clinic’s policies and procedures, rules and regulations, and other State and Federal regulatory requirements. Completes other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effectively communicate with patients, coworkers and vendors. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Manages difficult or emotional patient situations. Adapts to changes in the workplace and competing priorities. Active team player. Proficient in keyboarding and windows-based software. Competent in using office machines such as copiers, printers, faxes and calculators. Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. One year or more of experience, preferably in a physician office setting. Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred. Nebraska valid RN or LPN license required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Physical Demands/Work Environment Intermittent and/or frequent physical activity including walking, sitting, standing, reaching, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues or infectious materials or illness in the working environment.
