Workers will perform duties related to dairy livestock production during periods of increased labor demand associated with herd management cycles, calving activities, and seasonal feeding operations.
Duties may include:
Assist with feeding livestock using skid loaders and feeding equipment
Monitor livestock health and report signs of illness or injury
Assist with calving and care of newborn and young livestock
Move livestock between barns, pens, and feeding areas
Maintain sanitation of livestock housing and feeding areas
Maintain bedding and livestock housing conditions
Assist with manure handling within livestock facilities
Operate skid loaders and small equipment related to feeding and livestock care
Perform livestock husbandry duties for cattle of all ages
Animal Care:
Feed and water dairy cattle according to established schedules
Monitor animal health and report any signs of illness or injury
Assist with the care of sick or injured animals
Move cattle between pens, barns, and milking areas
Milking Operations:
Assist with milking cows using proper procedures
Clean and sanitize milking equipment before and after use
Ensure milk quality standards are maintained
Calving & Youngstock Care:
Assist with calving activities
Provide care for newborn calves, including feeding and monitoring
Maintain clean and safe environments for calves
Barn Maintenance & Sanitation:
Clean stalls, pens, and alleyways
Bed stalls with appropriate materials
Maintain overall cleanliness of the barn and related facilities
Wash and sanitize equipment used in the barn
Work Environment
Work is performed in and around livestock facilities
Exposure to animals, odors, dust, and varying temperatures is expected
Work may involve early mornings, weekends, and holidays
