The Role Elite Healthcare Staffing is seeking experienced Emergency Department Registered Nurses for per diem registry opportunities in an acute care hospital setting. The Emergency Department RN provides safe, timely, and patient-centered nursing care to patients experiencing minor illnesses, complex medical conditions, trauma, and life-threatening emergencies. The RN must be able to assess and prioritize patient needs, respond quickly to changes in condition, and work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. Department: Emergency Department Job Category: Clinical Nursing Registry Position: RN – Emergency Department Registry Employment Type: Per Diem Responsibilities Complete comprehensive patient assessments within required timeframes, including physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs. Reassess patients throughout the shift and whenever changes in condition occur. Develop, implement, review, and update individualized plans of care. Prioritize and reprioritize patient needs based on acuity and changes in clinical condition. Care for patients across the lifespan, from newborns through geriatric patients. Respond appropriately to minor illnesses, serious injuries, trauma, and life-threatening emergencies. Administer oral, topical, intravenous, and other medications in accordance with medication administration standards. Safely administer high-risk medications according to hospital and Emergency Department policies. Monitor and document patient responses to medications, treatments, and procedures. Perform nursing procedures using sterile technique, standard precautions, and infection-control practices. Interpret diagnostic results and promptly communicate significant findings or changes in condition. Coordinate care with physicians, specialists, and other members of the healthcare team. Use SBAR communication during patient handoffs and changes in level of care. Participate in multidisciplinary care planning. Provide patient and family education based on assessed needs. Document assessments, interventions, medications, patient responses, pain management, discharge planning, and progress toward goals. Complete Emergency Department admission, transfer, and discharge procedures. Document patient care accurately in the Emergency Department flow sheet and required hospital records. Maintain patient confidentiality, safety, dignity, and participation in the plan of care. Apply restraint policies appropriately and safely manage patients requiring restraints. Follow National Patient Safety Goals and patient-identification procedures. Activate the Rapid Response Team and follow the chain of command when clinically appropriate. Follow hospital policies related to blood transfusions, infection control, core measures, vaccines, and emergency response. Understand Emergency Department patient flow, including Rapid Medical Evaluation. Work effectively within a teaching and physician-residency Emergency Department model. Complete the Emergency Department skills checklist before the completion of the first scheduled shift. Required Qualifications Current and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license. Current American Heart Association BLS certification. Current American Heart Association ACLS certification. Current PALS or ENPC certification. Current CPI certification. Current NIH Stroke Scale certification. Recent Emergency Department RN experience in an acute care hospital. Ability to care for patients across the lifespan. Strong emergency assessment, prioritization, critical-thinking, and communication skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and seek assistance when necessary. Highly Preferred Qualifications Trauma Nursing Core Course certification, or TNCC. Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses certification, or ATCN. Certified Emergency Nurse certification, or CEN. Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Ventilator-management experience. Previous experience in a high-volume or trauma-focused Emergency Department.
