Duties may include: Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, and beehives. Conduct routine inspections for pests in beehives. Perform regular mite counts using methods like powdered sugar rolls or alcohol washes to assess the level of infestation and determine if treatment is necessary. Use miticides or other treatments, carefully following instructions to ensure they are applied effectively with minimal impact on the bees. Keep the apiary and individual hives clean to discourage pests and maintain a healthy environment for the bees & other related Winter Maintenance Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org). Possible weekend/holiday work.
