Duties may include: Commercial Tree Planting (clear an area with a planting shovel, dig a hole, place a seedling in the hole ensuring that the seedling is not in a J root position, and cover the hole back up to secure the seedling. Must be able to carry a planting bag with a number of seedlings, weighing up to 50 pounds, up and down steep, rugged terrain), Tubing, Spraying, Brush Cutting, Pre-Commercial Thinning (carrying fuel, oil, and operate a chainsaw weighing up to 30 pounds, cutting trees, and brush clearing. Undesirable and diseased trees are to be cut with a chainsaw. Selected limbs of standing trees will be cut). IF NECESSARY (ONLY IN THE EVENT OF AN UNFORESEEN FIRE) AND UNDER THE DIRECT SUPERVISION OF FIRE SUPPRESSION OFFICERS OR FORESTRY TECHNICIANS: fire mop-up duties such as utilizing hand tools such as shovels & pulaskis to dig and turn over debris, clearing/disposing of brush, piling, and digging line or construction of fire breaks & other related Forestry Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-4011 (onetonline.org). Standard/Expected Schedule: Monday-Friday 7:00AM-3:00PM. Offering 40+ (plus) hours per week; not including applicable lunch and/or breaks. Possible weekend/holiday work. Start/end times, offered hours and/or overtime could vary as they may be dependent upon other factors such as project/schedule/service needs, weather, and commute time between worksites (if applicable). Overtime possible, but not required or guaranteed. At Employer’s sole discretion: possible raises and/or bonuses based on individual factors such as work performance or skill (not guaranteed). Optional, shared housing available at no cost to the worker.
