Janitors maintain the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of commercial and residential properties by removing leaves, litter, storm debris, dirt, and refuse from sidewalks, parking lots, entrances, loading areas, and other exterior common areas. Duties include sweeping and blowing paved surfaces; collecting and disposing of debris; emptying exterior trash receptacles; pressure washing sidewalks, dumpster pads, and building entrances; cleaning gutters, surface drains, and service areas; removing debris following storms; operating leaf blowers, pressure washers, sweepers, and other cleaning equipment; and identifying exterior maintenance hazards requiring attention.
