We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our dynamic Outpatient Operating Room team in Santa Rosa, CA. Shift & Schedule
- Day Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts
- Hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Requirements & Skills
- Charting System: Preferred experience with Epic
- BLS Certification (required)
- Experience in Ambulatory OR and General OR settings
- Proficiency in Podiatry surgeries: ankle fusion, bunionectomy, hallux vagus arthroplasty/arthrodesis, metatarsal surgery
- Orthopedic procedures including ACL reconstruction, arthroscopy, arthrotomy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures
- Gynecological surgeries such as anterior/posterior repair (colporrhaphy), dilation & curettage, laparoscopic assisted procedures
- General Surgery knowledge: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic assisted surgeries, mastectomy
- Plastics experience including breast augmentation and mastectomy with TRAM flap reconstruction
- Ophthalmology: cataract extraction/implant (required)
- Urology procedures: circumcision, cystoscopy, laparoscopic assisted cases, transurethral resection of the prostate
- Equipment/Instrumentation: electrosurgical units and fiber optic light sources/cords
- Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT): endoscopic sinus procedures, mastoidectomy/tympanoplasty/stapedectomy, septoplasty/rhinoplasty, tonsillectomy/adenoidectomy
- Pediatric ENT: myringotomy with tubes, tonsillectomy/adenoids
- Strong professional knowledge in infection control, laser safety, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, universal protocol (time out) procedure
- Skilled in urinary bladder catheterization and wound management
- Travel experience: Not required
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing a variety of outpatient surgical procedures
- Assist the surgical team during procedures across multiple specialties including orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, plastics, ophthalmology, urology, and ENT
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation using preferred charting systems, with Epic experience highly regarded
- Ensure strict adherence to infection control protocols, universal protocols, and safety standards including laser and radiation safety
- Prepare operating rooms, equipment, and supplies before surgery; assist in the management and operation of electrosurgical units and fiber optic instruments
- Perform urinary bladder catheterization and manage wound care effectively
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal outcomes
- Participate in ongoing professional development and remain current with best practices and clinical guidelines
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California
- Current BLS certification
- Prior experience working in outpatient surgical settings preferred
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in a wide range of surgical specialties as outlined above
- Strong ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and delivering compassionate care
Compensation & Benefits
The hourly rate for this position ranges from $53.00 to $63.00, reflecting experience and expertise.
