H-2B workers are not involved in fetching sacks oysters. Mostly they wait for oysters to be brought to their shucking station. Workers may sometimes retrieve raw product from sacks already placed in the shucking
area using a box or bucket. Workers use hand tools to open oysters and required PPE such as slickers and gloves. Workers may use manual hand trucks.
Workers clean their work station with soap & water to rid of shells, mud etc. May use buckets, brooms and squeegees.
Obtain & distribute product; use knife to cut oyster from shell; discard shell; inspect meat for blemishes & remove/discard; separate processed meat by size and quality and place oysters in containers; assist with cleaning work stations at end of shift. Piece rate may be offered; rate will be determined based on wage determination.
No Experience/No educ. 3 days on the job training provided
