Job Description
Overview
MedSurg RNs provide bedside care for a variety of patients and execute individualized patient assessments to create an individualized plan of care. MedSurg RNs prepare equipment and assist physicians during examination and treatment of patients. MedSurg RN job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
MedSurg RNs prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications
Initiate alternative action when adverse symptomology is displayed
Change dressings, insert catheters, start IVs when necessary
Requirements
At least 2 years of RN experience and
Minimum 1 recent year Medsurg RN experience
Current certifications in BLS, ACLS
Active RN License
Cerner experience preferred but not required
Experience with patients having central lines (PAC, PICC, midlines), drains, ostomies, and Foleys
Prior trauma Level I or II unit experience
Skills in interpreting dysrhythmias and invasive procedures
Experience with tele units and ICU procedures
Knowledge of rapid response and code team activation
