Duties may include: Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies during winter months when animals are not able to graze in fields. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions to ensure proper weight gain & other related Winter Livestock Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).
Possible weekend/holiday work.
The employer may choose to pay experienced workers, regardless of origin, more than the published minimum wage rate. See attached Addendum C.
