All job duties are directly related to the production of crops and livestock. Perform any combination of the following tasks required in equipment operation, farmwork and the production of crops: adjust, repair, and service farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions; apply, monitor, and control fertigation (applying fertilizer through irrigation) chemicals applied through irrigation system; Assist with installing, removing, and storing hay tarps.; dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; evaluate the condition of the crop/weather and adjust harvesting activity based on evaluation; irrigate soil through operation of sprinkler systems which includes but is not limited to adjusting valves to start and/or adjust water flow, using proper material and methods to repair irrigation equipment; loading/unloading trucks; Maintain, Service, and repair pivot irrigations systems, screens, mainlines and pumps as needed; maintain/drive/attach and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, apply chemicals and harvest crops; maintenance of farm structures and farm grounds; mix specified material or chemicals and dump solutions/powders into irrigation system or sprayer machinery; observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; operate and tend equipment used in agricultural production, such as tractors, self-propelled combines, swathers, rakes or balers; operate maintain and repair all components of a sprinkler; operate multiple types of pumps; operate, maintain and repair all components of a pivot; perform some maintenance and adjustments to implements/tractors/equipment; perform welding and metal work when maintenance requires it; removal of excess plant growth from farm grounds; remove pipe from fields and place in storage; remove pipe from storage; shovel and pack dirt in low spots or cut trenches to direct water flow; use proper material and methods to repair irrigation equipment; work to winterize harvest and irrigation equipment.
Perform any combination of the following tasks attending to livestock: apply medications to cuts and bruises; assist in the maintenance of tools, equipment and handling facilities necessary to production; break ice over frozen water sources; clean and disinfect livestock corrals, pens and handling facilities; conduct year-end inventory of livestock health supplies (e.g., dewormers, vaccines, halters, medical kits); restock mobile trailers and barns to prepare for calving and early spring turnout; feed and water and ensure adequate provision of both; lift and stack bales of hay and sacks of grain and mineral onto a feed truck or wagon; loading/unloading trucks; maintenance of farm structures and farm grounds; operate and tend equipment such as pickups, 4-wheelers, tractors, tub grinders and skid steers trailers (livestock, utility and flatbed); spray livestock with insecticide.
