Job Description

Workers will perform assigned agricultural duties requiring demonstrated knowledge of cotton gin operations, agricultural machinery, processing procedures, and applicable safety standards. Workers are expected to possess the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to perform the duties described in this clearance order safely and efficiently. Workers are expected to exercise independent judgment in carrying out routine duties, recognize routine operational issues, report conditions requiring supervisory attention, organize assigned work independently, and work under supervisor direction with limited direct supervision.
Cotton, Hauling, and Transport: Workers will perform assigned duties as described in this clearance order and in accordance with supervisor instructions. Workers are expected to follow verbal and written instructions, coordinate assigned tasks, and maintain employer production pace and quality standards without constant direct oversight. Workers will unload cotton modules at the gin, remove plastic wrapping and debris, inspect incoming cotton modules for moisture, contamination, foreign material, and other conditions that may affect processing quality, and prepare cotton to enter the gin feeders. Workers will roll up removed plastic, maintain a clean receiving area, and monitor material flow into the ginning equipment. Workers will perform mote baler and bale press operations by monitoring material flow, identifying and clearing minor blockages in accordance with established safety procedures, and operating strapping equipment to secure completed bales.
Workers will safely operate sit-down forklifts, tractors, utility vehicles, and other agricultural equipment, consistent with their knowledge, skills, and experience, to transport, stack, and stage finished cotton bales, seed, and other agricultural materials short distances within the employer’s property. The employer will provide orientation regarding site-specific safety procedures, work rules, equipment assignments, and operational protocols. Workers are expected to apply their experience and training to perform assigned duties safely and efficiently with limited direct supervision. Workers are responsible for conducting routine pre-operation equipment inspections, checking fluid levels, identifying routine maintenance needs, reporting equipment deficiencies to supervisors, and completing basic preventive equipment upkeep. All equipment operation is limited to on-farm activities, and no driving on public roads is required. Workers will also perform general cleaning duties, including sweeping, dusting, and maintaining orderly work areas.
General Agricultural Maintenance and Other Agricultural Activities: When primary harvesting work is temporarily unavailable because of weather, crop conditions, or operational needs, workers may perform agricultural duties that are incidental to and in conjunction with the primary harvesting activities described in this clearance order. These duties will not replace or substantially reduce the availability of primary agricultural work. Incidental duties may include general manual cleanup of worksites and agricultural structures; weeding, trimming, digging, cutting, topping, and removing weeds, vines, debris, and trash from fields and fence lines by hand or with basic hand tools; routine handling, securing, and clearing of tarps, covers, and staging areas under supervisor direction; and cleaning, disinfecting, washing, and removing dirt and plant residue from module movers, trailers, hand tools, farm vehicles, and other agricultural equipment used in field operations.
