Forklift Operator / Hi-Lo Driver
Pay: Hourly | Hi-lo certification required (provided by employer)
• Complete hi-lo checklist at the beginning of each shift
• Place pallet tags on all complete pallets; confirm tags are correct based on size, style, and quantity
• Confirm pallets are properly wrapped, strapped, and labeled before placing in packed fruit racking
• Maintain finished product inventory log; notify management when pallet inventory is low
• Confirm adequate supplies (pallets, boxes, bags, DLS materials by size/variety/customer/style) before each run
• Store and organize incoming pallets and packaging; sort heat-treated from non-heat-treated
• Bring supplies from upper level of facility as needed
• Complete bag/pallet inventory at end of each week
• Assist with shipping and loading/unloading trucks
• Inform pallet tag maker when new tags are needed
• Bring in empty bins from outside
• Place apple bins into dump tank throughout production using forklift
• Monitor dumper system — verify and record variety, lot, and quantities daily; report problems to Plant Manager
• Track inventory including both raw and packed fruit, bins for cider/process; switch out as needed and transport raw fruit and empty bins to designated areas
• Notify Line Supervisor or Line Assistant if pallets are not stacked correctly
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Maintenance
Pay: Hourly
• Assist with repair and maintenance of packing facility and equipment using hand and power tools (cleaning, lubricating, holding parts/equipment as directed)
• Monitor cold storage and controlled atmosphere rooms; maintain correct gas levels and temperatures by adjusting equipment and installing/removing CA doors
• Complete various facility and equipment logs as directed by management
Quality Control
Pay: Hourly
• Review incoming bins and packed inventory of both raw and packed fruit
• Conduct pre-ship inspections on packed fruit / process bins
• Ensure that all fruit received, in inventory and waiting shipment meets quality standards as directed by management
General Production (covers box making, bin repair & production)
Pay: Hourly
• Pre-sort and manually sort fruit for defects using USDA grading standards (communicated at start of each run)
• Pack fruit into appropriate bags, cartons, trays, or other packaging as required
• Make boxes and stack correctly onto pallets using shrink wrap, case labels, and plastic strapping
• Discard any fruit that contacts the floor in rot/trash barrels
• Assist with production line cleaning and sanitation
• Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs
• Assemble boxes/containers repetitively based on order requirements
• Check pack schedule to confirm correct packaging for current or upcoming run
• Keep production line supplied with packaging at all times
• Prepare packaging/trays and stage on pallets for the following day or upcoming lot change
• Store incoming packaging in appropriate location
• Clean Bliss Machine 2–3 times per week; fill glue pod as needed
• Keep weekly packaging inventory; notify Plant Manager or Supervisor when supplies are low
• Keep work area clean and organized throughout the day and at end of each shift
• Worker will assist in repairing apple bins as directed.
