Job Description

The job duties requested are only performed during the winter months when equipment is removed from field operation and is no longer in use. The primary responsibilities center around the winterization, inspection, maintenance, overhaul, and repair of farm equipment and vehicles to ensure their longevity and readiness for the next operational season. Winterization duties include draining fluids, adding fuel stabilizers, disconnecting or removing batteries, lubricating moving parts, sealing openings to prevent rodent infestation, applying protective coatings to exposed metal surfaces, and preparing equipment for long-term storage.

The position requires post- and preseason inspections and general mechanical repair of farm machinery and vehicles. Duties include dismantling and reassembling equipment; servicing engines; repairing or replacing worn mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, drivetrain, and structural components; testing electrical systems; tuning engines; fabricating or repairing metal parts; installing replacement parts; and performing function tests. Workers will also clean and service equipment, apply protective coatings, and perform snow removal around farm facilities and equipment areas when necessary.

One worker may also perform operation of non-CDL farm trucks and grain trailers to transport grain from on-farm storage facilities to elevators, markets, or other designated delivery locations. These duties are secondary to the mechanical responsibilities and may include loading, securing, transporting, and unloading grain; inspecting and servicing trucks and trailers; maintaining delivery records; and following designated routes and all roadway safety requirements.

There are few typical days, and workers may be required to change duties and/or locations often and perform various mechanical, maintenance, repair, and limited hauling functions. The employer reserves the right to increase workers’ pay or provide bonuses based on tenure, performance, or other factors that are solely based on the discretion of the employer.

Employment period: Nov 16, 2026 – Jan 14, 2027
