The seasonal agricultural worker will feed and water livestock; monitor food and water supplies; mix feed, additives, and medications in prescribed portions; order, load, transport, and distribute feed using trucks, tractors, and other agricultural equipment; examine animals for signs of illness, injury, disease, or abnormal weight gain; provide routine animal care, administer vaccinations and medications as directed, and arrange for veterinary care when necessary; assist with animal reproduction, including breeding, artificial insemination, and assisting with births; groom, clip, trim, shear, castrate, dock ears or tails, and otherwise care for livestock as needed; spray, dip, or bathe livestock with disinfectants or insecticides; herd livestock to pastures, scales, trucks, and enclosures and move animals between grazing areas to maintain access to food; patrol grazing areas on horseback or ATV and protect livestock from predators using trained dogs; move livestock and equipment between locations manually or with vehicles; clean stalls, pens, and equipment using disinfectants, brushes, shovels, hoses, pumps, and other equipment; inspect, maintain, and perform routine repairs on agricultural equipment, machinery, pens, yards, fences, and buildings; and maintain growth, feeding, production, cost, operational, and inventory records. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion.
