Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time.
Sweet Potatoes: Workers will pull weeds, and harvest sweet potatoes in the fields indicated. Pulling weeds by hand in sweet potatoes fields. The worker will pick the potatoes up by hand into buckets. These buckets will be carried to a truck in the fields with empty bin boxes.
Bucket Unloading: Worker will be standing inside the plastic or wood boxes and receiving full buckets of sweet potatoes from the other workers that harvesting and unloading buckets full of sweet potatoes into the plastic or wood boxes. Workers are required to lift and carry at least 35 pounds.
General Farm Labor: Workers on physical work restrictions or when harvesting work is not available may be required to perform miscellaneous clean-up work on farm property, on structures utilized in the operation, and on housing for harvesting workers. Such clean-up activities include the weeding, irrigation repair, debris removal, housing and structure cleaning and repair; and general clean-up as required. Workers will be paid the highest of the adverse effect wage rate, the prevailing wage rate, or the applicable minimum wage rate for time spent performing such clean-up work.
Workers are required to have at least (1) one month of verifiable harvesting experience. The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the workers refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools.
