Company Overview

  • Employer: Spivey Farms, Inc (#3)
  • Location: Plant City, FL, US

Job Description

The employer will provide the tools necessary to perform the described job duties without charge to the worker. The employer will charge the worker for reasonable costs related to the worker's refusal or negligent failure to return the tools or due to such worker's willful damage or destruction of the tools.

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time.

Strawberry Planting: Workers will place the strawberry plant in a machine dug hole. Workers will fill in hole on all sides making sure the strawberry plant is securely in place.

Strawberry Harvest: The top of each flat or clamshell will be hand-placed correctly, meaning only the red of the strawberries will be shown in the presentation. All pint cups are to be covered where they are not seen. Each worker will get rows at the beginning of the season and that will be their row all year long. It is the workers responsibility to maintain the upkeep of the rows, including cleaning the bushes each time you pick of berries not suitable for sale (too small, deformed berries, rotten, etc.)

Cutting Strawberry Runners: Move down the rows and cut and remove all strawberry runners as instructed.

Tomato Harvest - Grape, Plum, or Cherry: Unless otherwise instructed, only tomatoes that have broken color on the bottom (turning pink) are to be picked. All green tomatoes are UNACCEPTABLE! Grape tomatoes will only be picked red & high orange - no pink, no breakers and no green. All buckets will be filled to the top without being "shaken" (making it appear more tomatoes are in the bucket than there really are).

Staking: Move down row and pound in wooden stake next to each plant as instructed.

Tying: Move down row tying plant to stake as instructed.

Employment period: Sep 3, 2026 – Apr 1, 2027
