We are a dairy in Gila Bend Arizona with two parallel parlors using 12 hour shifts. Calves are born onsite and shipped offsite until ready to produce milk. Job duties may include and are not limited to tasks such as: be able to handle working in high humidity, construct facilities, regulate conditions, tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care, grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating, work in extreme temperatures; ensure barn fans and misters are operational and maintaining temperature for cattle; adjust ventilation as necessary based on temperatures and weather conditions; maintain clean, sanitary farm areas by cleaning stalls, pens, and equipment with disinfectants, brushes, shovels, hoses, or pumps; handling manure by scraping, piling, and loading; covering/uncovering feed; distributing, additives, and medications in prescribed portions; clean and maintain farm facilities and equipment systems, including washing parlor walls/floors/pit, bulk tank, feeders, pails, sinks, and pipelines, as well as maintaining and repairing systems, feed troughs, and trucks; keeping records; receiving and moving cattle; providing day to day care for cows, heifers, calves, and yearlings; observing animals for injury, illness, and growth/weight gain; assisting with calving and weaning; ensuring orphan calves receive colostrum immediately after birth; feeding, watering, nursing assistance, vaccinating, medicating, castrating, and providing hay as needed; change and maintain correct teat dips depending on temps and moisture; hand or machine milking; sorting, segregating, and herding animals; identifying animals with RFID ear tags; performing reproduction related tasks such as timely breeding. Equipment such as but not limited to the following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the duties being performed: pickups, cars, tractors.
