Landscape Maintenance:
Landscapers perform routine landscaping and grounds maintenance activities, including mowing lawns,
trimming and edging landscaped areas, watering lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, and plants, gathering and
removing leaves, grass clippings, trash, and other debris, and maintaining landscaped grounds.
Trees, Shrubs, and Hedges:
Landscapers perform routine maintenance of trees, shrubs, and hedges as part of landscaping services. Duties
include trimming or clipping small branches, shrubs, hedges, and other vegetation accessible from the ground
using pruning shears, hand loppers, hedge trimmers, pruning saws, and similar landscaping tools.
Ground-Level Performance:
Any tree trimming performed by Landscapers is conducted entirely from the ground. Workers do not climb
trees or perform work from ropes, harnesses, ladders, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or elevated platforms.
Scope and Classification Confirmation:
The position aligns with SOC 37-3011.00 (Landscaping and Groundskeeping Workers). The position expressly
excludes duties associated with Tree Trimmers and Pruners (SOC 37-3013.00), including tree climbing, aerial
tree trimming, elevated tree work, arborist services, large-tree pruning, and tree removal operations. Any
trimming of trees, shrubs, or hedges is incidental to routine landscaping and groundskeeping services and is
performed entirely from the ground using tools customarily associated with landscape maintenance.
Workers are not employed as arborists or tree trimmers. All specialized tree-care and arborist services are
performed, if at all, by separately qualified workers.
***Original Duties***
Gather and remove trash/debris. Use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge or brush trimmers or axes. Operate large riding mowers, line trimmers and powered equipment such as push mowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, blowers, sod cutters, or pruning saws. Water lawns, trees, or plants using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans. Prune or trim trees, shrubs, or hedges using shears, pruners, or chainsaws.
