Meal preparation, laundry/clothing care, housekeeping/cleaning, and transportation are limited to childcare-related nanny duties for the children under the nanny’s care, and do not describe a cook, launderer, housekeeper, cleaner, driver, or chauffeur position.
Meal planning/preparation means planning, preparing, reheating, assembling, and serving age-appropriate meals and snacks for the children only. The worker may use ordinary household kitchen equipment, including refrigerator, sink, stove/oven, microwave, toaster, blender, pots, pans, utensils, cutting board, child-safe dishes, and dishwasher. The worker may perform basic cooking or reheating only as needed for children’s meals/snacks. The worker will not cook meals for the parents or household generally. Food prepared by the nanny is for the children under the nanny’s care.
Laundry/clothing care means the children’s laundry only, including washing, drying, folding, organizing, and putting away children’s clothing, bibs, towels, blankets, bedding, and child-care related items. The worker may use ordinary household laundry equipment, including washer, dryer, detergent, hampers, and child clothing storage areas. The worker will not handle parents’ laundry, adult clothing care, or general household laundry.
Transportation means transportation/accompaniment of the children only, as part of childcare, to and from school, daycare, children’s activities, play outings, medical appointments, or similar child-related outings, as directed by the parents. Tasks may include placing children in car seats/seat belts, supervising them during travel, bringing children’s belongings, and accompanying children into/out of destinations. The worker will not transport parents, other adults, or the public.
Housekeeping/cleaning duties are limited to the children’s care, such as cleaning up after children’s meals, organizing children’s toys/play areas, and maintaining a safe environment for the children. These duties are incidental to childcare.

Care for young children in private households and provide support and expertise to parents in satisfying children's physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs. Duties may include meal planning, and preparation, laundry and clothing care, organization of play activities and outings, discipline, intellectual stimulation, language activities, and transportation. Furthermore, duties may include the below:
- Instruct children in safe behavior, such as seeking adult assistance when crossing the street and avoiding contact with unsafe objects.
- Remove hazards and develop appropriate boundaries and rules to create a safe environment for children.
- Instruct and assist children in developing healthy and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet behavior.
- Regulate children's rest periods and nap schedules.
- Help prepare and serve nutritionally balanced meals and snacks for children.
- Model appropriate social behaviors and encourage concern for others to cultivate the development of interpersonal relationships and communication skills.
- Observe children's behavior for irregularities, take temperature, transport children to the doctor, or administer medications, as directed, to maintain children's health. Perform first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) when required.
- Work with parents to develop and implement discipline programs to promote desirable child behavior.
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to children's care.
- Meet regularly with parents to discuss children's activities and development.
