Unit Description : Our 30-bed Orthopedic/Neuroscience Unit offers a unique blend of specialty and medical-surgical nursing. We care for patients recovering from orthopedic procedures, including total hip, knee, and shoulder replacements, as well as neurosurgical procedures such as spinal fusions, laminectomies, decompressions, craniotomies, and tumor resections. Opportunities for cross-training at the Surgical Center are available for team members interested in expanding their perioperative experience.
In addition to our surgical populations, we care for a diverse group of medical patients with orthopedic and neurologic conditions. Common diagnoses include fractures, strokes, seizures, Guillain-Barré syndrome, amputations, infections, and other acute medical conditions requiring specialized nursing care. This creates a dynamic and fast-paced environment where no two days are the same.
Our diverse patient population provides an exceptional opportunity for nurses to develop strong medical-surgical skills while gaining expertise in orthopedic and neuroscience care. Team members build clinical judgment, strengthen assessment and prioritization skills, and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care. Whether you are beginning your nursing career or looking to expand your clinical experience, our unit offers a supportive environment with opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
