Setting: Inpatient progressive care/step-down environment supporting adult patients with intermediate acuity
Responsibilities
Deliver direct, evidence-based nursing care to patients in the PCU, including monitoring vital signs, assessing condition changes, and responding to alarms and clinical changes
Administer medications and treatments per physician orders, ensuring accuracy, safety, and documentation
Perform ongoing patient assessments, update care plans, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust care as needed
Educate patients and families about conditions, treatments, discharge plans, and safety precautions
Maintain accurate, timely charting in the electronic health record and ensure compliance with unit policies and regulatory standards
Requirements
Active RN license in Texas or eligibility for licensure in the state
8-hour evening shift availability; ability to work within an inpatient PCU setting
BLS certification (and other standard hospital-based certifications as required by the unit)
Minimum preferred experience in PCU, step-down, or similar acute care environment
Strong communication and teamwork skills; ability to respond quickly to changes in patient status
Commitment to patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to clinical guidelines
