Perform skilled concrete-finishing work on horizontal and formed vertical concrete surfaces. Check and align forms to the required line, grade, pitch, and depth. Guide concrete placement through pump hoses or chutes; spread, consolidate, screed, level, float, trowel, edge, and broom freshly poured concrete to the specified elevation, texture, and finish using hand and power tools. Form control and expansion joints; patch voids and surface defects; chip or grind high spots; and apply curing, hardening, sealing, or waterproofing compounds. Finish formed vertical surfaces by patching voids and imperfections and rubbing or grinding surfaces to the required finish. Monitor weather and concrete temperatures and adjust finishing and curing procedures to prevent freezing and surface defects. During cold-weather pours, remove snow and ice from designated pour areas; prepare and compact gravel subbase; erect plastic enclosures and position temporary heaters; apply approved deicing or cold-weather materials as directed; and install insulated blankets and straw to protect curing concrete. Move concrete hoses and clean finishing tools and equipment incidental to the concrete-finishing work.
