Job Title: Production Assistant
Department: Production
Reports To: Production Supervisor
Work Hours: 7:30am-4:30pm (including 1 hour of unpaid lunch/breaks), Monday-Friday
Major Responsibilities: Operate equipment that mixes, blends, and prepares ingredients used in the manufacturing of candy/confectionery food products: caramel coated popcorn and toffee coated macadamia nuts. Under the direct supervision of the production supervisor.
Essential Job Functions/Requirements:
● Prepare ingredients for planned production in the kitchen.
● Fill processing or cooking containers, such as kettles or rotating cookers, with ingredients
● Mix or blend ingredients, according to recipes, by controlling vats that heat and mix ingredients in order to:
○ Cook toffee batches in gas fire mixers.
○ Pop popcorn.
○ Roast flavored nuts and raw macadamia nuts.
○ Make caramel coated popcorn and toffee coated macadamia nuts.
● Demonstrate working knowledge of gas-fire mixers.
● Use controls to start equipment and to adjust operation to maintain product quality
Other Duties / Functions:
● Prepare various sauces for flavored nuts.
● Clean and sterilize kettles, large revolving pan, kitchen utensils, and factory processing areas.
● Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
● Other tasks instructed by the production supervisor.
Work Conditions:
Works indoors in a factory setting, in moderately warm temperatures of 80°F to 100°F.
Equipment Use:
Large revolving pan, gas-fire mixer, kettle lifters, hand pallet jack, popcorn conveyors, convection oven,
weight scales, hand tape gun.
Mental Demands:
Requires attention to detail, accuracy, and good judgment of quality standards while preparing
batches.
Physical Demands:
Requires long periods of standing, and frequent walking in hot temperatures. Requires lifting up to 50 lbs. Occasionally requires the use of a hand pallet jack to move items up to 800 lbs.
Safety and Health Responsibilities:
Wear required apparel and observe all Safety, Personal Hygiene, and GMP policies and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications
3 months of candy manufacturing experience.
Basic English reading and verbal skills.
